Polymer Science at home and abroad

One of the responsibilities of Macro Group is to represent the interests of UK polymer scientists at national and international levels. We are engaged with the European Polymer Federation and will be actively seeking to strengthen our existing international links in the coming years. The biennial IUPAC World Polymer Congress is the largest international conference on polymer science and the 2010 congress has been awarded to Macro Group, offering a great opportunity to showcase UK Polymer Science. scene.

Learning resources

The Group is actively engaged in development of educational support material aimed at current GCSE and A-level Chemistry curricula. The objective is to develop a learning support pack in CD format to assist teachers in delivering the polymer science parts of the curricula. It will also offer interested students the opportunity to explore the subject further and gain insights into a much broader range of polymers and polymer science in relation to applications in everyday life. Previews of the more basic material are available on-line in the interim period.

Assisting new researchers

The Recent Appointees in Polymer Science network, more affectionately known as RAPS, provides a coordinated approach to nurturing the future of UK polymer science and technology, and is now a sub-group of Macro Group.

Macro Group and Polymer Physics Group bulletin

Published for members twice a year, the Bulletin offers a round up of activity in polymer science, awards, conference reports and advanced notice of forthcoming events. Articles on UK academic and industrial polymer science groups are now being introduced to help keep people up-to-date with what is happening around the country.

Personal benefits

As part of a group we have been able to arrange discounts from many leading publishers for our members. You will also have reduced registration fees for Macro Group and many related meetings.
